Inspection of pets (Cats and Dogs)

Cats and dogs being imported into Belize must be accompanied with a valid import permit issued by BAHA prior arrival of the animals.

The import permit issued by the Animal Health Department has conditions that the owners must comply before the pets are allowed into Belize. The inspection is performed at the points of entry by Quarantine Inspectors to ensure that the animals are current with their vaccination and deworming treatments and are disease free. The primary document request is a veterinary certificate from the country of origin.
