Market Surveillance

    1. Surveillance activities are programmed and performed by officers of the Quarantine Department and at times supported by other enforcing agencies such as the Customs and Police Departments.  These activities facilitate the interception of illegally imported goods of quarantine importance which can be a means of entry for regulated pests and pests of Quarantine importance.

      The activity also assists local farmers have access to the local markets with reasonable prices for their produce; without the unfair competition of lower prices and higher volumes of smuggled/contraband commodities being available at these outlets (Figures – illegally introduced commodities).
