The Belize Agricultural Health Authority invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position:
Quarantine Inspector
Minimum qualification and skills:
1. An Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences (Agriculture) or Agricultural Science;
2. At least one (1) year work related experience;
3. Computer literate particularly in Microsoft Suite and knowledge of other related programs and software would be an asset.
Competencies:
1. Strong professional work ethics and practices, honesty, and integrity;
2. Strong public relations and inter-personal skills;
3. Excellent written communication skills;
4. Bilingual – fluent in spoken English and Spanish;
5. Highly motivated team player who takes initiative;
6. Valid class “A” driver’s license.
The Quarantine Inspector is responsible for inspection and certification of regulated plant and animal commodities at official points of entry, in compliance with national and international regulations.
Inspects plant and animal products, including live animals, to prevent the introduction and spread of pests, diseases, and invasive species
Salary: BAHA Pay Scale 10: $17,810.76 x 852.84 – $34,014.72
Stations of Duty: Belize Northern Border, Corozal District; this post is transferable
